Today I’m back with another Iconic movie that was unfortunately underrated but can make you scare your pants off.

On this day The Village got released for the first time in USA. Let’s have a quick diagnosis of it.

Trivia

In The Village, Judy Greer plays a person named Kitty and co-stars with Bryce Dallas Howard. In Arrested Development, Judy Greer plays a person named Kitty and co-stars with Howard’s dad Ron Howard.Mary and Gregory came close during the shooting of this film. They remained in contact with each other after the movie for the rest of their life. Mary and Gregory consider the role of each other as their idol role and source of inspiration. The role of Scout and Atticus are the sources of inspiration for other actors also.

Iconic dialogues from this movie

August Nicholson: Let her go. If it ends, it ends. We can move towards hope, that’s what’s beautiful about this place. We cannot run from heartache. My brother was slain in the towns, the rest of my family died here. Heartache is a part of life, we know that now. Ivy is running toward hope, let her run. If this place is worthy, she’ll be successful in her quest.

Lucius Hunt: Are you upset you can’t see?

Ivy Walker: I see the world, Lucius Hunt, not as you see it.

Plot Summary

There’s an isolated town somewhere in Pennsylvania where people are not allowed to cross its boundaries or the monster will eat them alive. In that town lives Lucious and Ivy who are in deep love. But when Ivy’s one-sided lover, Noah, finds out about them. He attacks Lucious and makes him seriously injured. There is no one in the town that can help. So Ivy, who is blind, goes to cross the boundaries of the town to find help.

An Unique Unrealistic reality

You would never think that something like this can be true in a million years yet you will find this movie so realistic. This tells us about how different elements perfectly put together in a movie can make the sunrise in the middle of the night. When I watched the trailer I laughed. I thought it was one of those self-parody movies. And just for fun, I decided to have a look at it. I am going, to be honest with you guys.

I thought this movie was a joke and was not expecting a single good thing from it. I was surprised when it started to throw the thrills at my sorry face. I planned to watch just a scene or two, just to make fun of it in my friend circle. But all I remember was biting my nails at the climax and telling my friends how great fun this movie was.

The script

Another very important thing about this movie is its very mysterious plot and storyline. The story moves slowly and gradually towards the climates. The beginning might not make any sense to you at all you might have a lot of confusion in the one-third part of the movie, in the beginning. But it all will start to make sense once you will get closer to the second half. It all will get organized and meaningful automatically. Trust me you will get a lot of aha moments! The movie is not tough to grasp at all, it is just the faces of the movie that you need to watch patiently.

In the beginning, you won’t know what you are watching. Then you’ll see Adrien Brody and Joaquin phoenix. The script will start to get interesting. You’ll notice that the mysterious evil in the wood that appears to be encroaching on the community is not the main topic. Underline this plot is a story of humanity that transcends time. This movie will start to become deeper. The most creative and powerful ways to say I love you will start to happen unexpectedly. The importance of community and living in harmony is right there. It’s powerful and so fragile at the same time. Going off the grid living off the land while a pandemic raises and people phrases to death in Texas. I think this is one of the most brilliant films I have seen in a long time.

The monster aspect of it is just a dash of colour. It’s the script that drives home one of the most fundamental conundrums of societal living today.

Conclusion

The Village Review

Let me know what you think of this movie if you have already watched it.
