Introduction

A demonic entity makes entry to a village, hunting down people. It must be stopped before things gets worse. Aranmanai 4 tackles the routineness of this plot with neat execution.

Despite lacking in finesse, Tamannaah anchors the best entry in the franchise.

Review

Sundar C had been, since quite some time, working on installments of the Aranmanai franchise. We are at a place where the franchise can be equated to the conjuring series, except that they weren’t as successful as The Conjuring. Since the first part of Aranmanai, everything else were a snooze fest with forced jumpscares and unwanted comedy. As Aranmanai 4 was announced, it was natural for people to expect nothing but another snooze fest. But oh boy, how wrong we were!

Starting with what worked the best in Aranmanai 4 compared to its other installments – firstly, the treatment. Unlike other movies of the franchise that had a sleazy script and boring screenplay, Aranmanai 4 had a neatly written script with necessary detailing. Secondly, the visual effects were neat. There was no frown-worthy VFX in the movie that makes us feel getting out of the theatre. Thirdly, no unnecessary skin shows. It is a Sundar C mark to present actresses at their glamourous best. Here the story didn’t demand it, and the maker didn’t go there.

Tamannaah as Selvi in Aranmanai 4

But out of all these, there are two best elements that made this movie work big time – Tamannaah Bhatia and Hip Hop Tamizha. Tamannaah’s portrayal of selfie is probably one of her best works in her career. Her performance as a fierce mother was top notch and the interval shot will bring you goosebumps. Such was her screen presence. Her entry to the franchise with Aranmanai 4 was totally worth it. Hiphop tamizha gave their best for Aranmanai 4. The background score were really impressive at multiple portions elevating the story.

Unnecessary jump scares are avoided in the movie and the ones included works fine. The biggest negative of Aranmanai 4 is the comedy tracks. It could have been completely avoided as not even a single comedy sequence worked. They were all either cringeworthy or misplaced. The freshness about Aranmanai 4 was how the evil was presented with a different backstory and motives.

Tmannaah Bhatia and Raashi Khanna

Being all these said, Sundar C didn’t forget his fans. As the end credits roll, we get to see both Tamannaah and Raashi Khanna in an ultra-glamourous song where we see the typical Sundar C mark. The Achacho song from Aranmanai 4 made it to trending even before the movie’s release and we have to admit Sundar knows how to market his movie well. Tamannaah and Raashi were seen in a never before kind of glamourous avatar, exposing their best assets. Both the hotties dance through a peppy number with ample display of their curves, without interrupting the movie in any way.

Conclusion

Aranmanai 4 is a surprise hit from Sundar C where Tamannaah Bhatia shines big time!
