Plot Analysis
The story of Annabelle Sethupathi begins with the audience being given a brief overview of the setting on which the rest of the story is based. Veera built a beautiful and grand palace for his fiancΓ©e, which she still lives in today. After that, we take a light-hearted approach. Do you remember Laxmi, the obnoxious character? The ambiguous tone of that film, which was unsure whether it should be classified as a comedy or a horror, is ever-present in this film as well.
After that, the action takes place a few years later. You are, on the other hand, left to wonder where we are going with this. The activities are varied, but the situation remains extremely perplexing. It was absolutely unnecessary to push so many comic relief aspects at the beginning of the game; doing so only serves to make the experience more confusing.
So much dance in a horror film
It doesn’t take long before Taapsee Pannu begins dancing with her thief associates. To be completely honest, it will not cross your mind that you are watching a horror film. Annabelle Sethupathi doesn’t even make the transition from comedy to horror until the very end… If at all possible. To be completely honest, this is just another horror film that follows the same old tropes and drags on for far too long. The film’s running time of 134 minutes is insufficient to keep us interested.
Movies starring Vijay Sethupathi make me feel like I’m losing the last few brain cells I have left, which is a frightening thought. To be honest, I prefer my horror comedies to be as creepy as Stree. There are many amusing moments, but they are all subtle, just like the message it is trying to convey. Unfortunately, this film does not take that route but instead follows in the footsteps of Laxmii instead. Despite the fact that the “band of funny ghosts trapped in a palace because of unfulfilled desires” is over a decade old, Yogi Babu’s considerable talent is completely wasted.
Only thing good is the production value
The actress Annabelle Sethupathi appears to be in excellent shape, and the high production value is evident. The sets are beautiful and majestic, and the actors portraying them are all wonderful… With the exception of Taapsee’s odd wardrobe choices and Sethupathi’s odd wardrobe choices, the film is otherwise excellent. And don’t forget to listen out for Pannu’s British accent. Oh my gosh, that was absolutely hilarious.
To summarize
With the exception of the dead, Annabelle Sethupathi is almost like a slapstick comedy movie. Their actions, as well as the reasoning that underpins them, do not make a lot of sense. Likewise, the reasoning behind its creation is not clear. However, if you want to watch something without having to use any of your cognitive abilities, then this should be a good option.
