Plot / Story / Script

Tony Stark’s life changes after he is held captive by terrorists in Afghanistan. He starts questioning the impact of his weapons business and fights his way out of a cave wearing the first Iron Man Suit.

While we realize his partner Obadiah Stane has planned his kidnapping and conspiring to steal the new tech that Tony Stark has invented.

The script crackles with smart humor that doesn’t go overboard. Jon Favreau has done a tremendous job by avoiding any over-serious or over-familiar scenes.

The movie gives you enough to allow you to emotionally connect with Iron Man and has a clever mix of the comic’s 1960s origins and the effects of contemporary war, providing plenty of nostalgia while also being relevant.

Performances

Robert Downey Junior was meant for this role.  He is smart and charming and RDJ has done such a good job that every marvel fan just wants to see more of him. RDJ’s effortless portrayal makes the emotional side of the character (Iron Man) wholly believable.

Jeff Bridges have portrayed a perfect antagonist as Obadiah Stane, he has his own insecurity with Tony Stark which leads him to do pretty bad things in the movie.

Gwyneth Paltrow who plays Pepper Potts is integral to the story. Gwyneth has played Pepper with ease just like RDJ.

Jon Favreau, who is also the director of the movie plays a character named Happy Hogan, who is the bodyguard of Tony Stark. Like his character name, he will indeed make you happy with his screen presence πŸ™‚

Screenplay, Direction, Editing, and Cinematography

Written by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway.

Characters by Stan Lee, Don Heck , Larry Lieber, Jack Kirby .

Screenwriters have written a good story while staying true to the comic storyline of Ironman.

Jon Favreau not only made a nice film, but he was well aware of the kind of risk he was taking by making a new Marvel superhero origin movie.

Edited by Dan Lebental. He knows where we need to feel empathetic towards the characters and where he has to use instant cuts like in action sequences.

The cinematography is done by Matthew Libatique, he has captured some beautiful images for the audience. We get to see some beautiful visuals and action sequences.

Special Effects teams have to be mentioned as they are the ones who make it look so realistic in the whole movie.

My Views

I think the good part of this movie is despite its having such a cool character it doesn’t diverge from the storyline. It has good character and a good story which makes this movie perfect. I would rate it at high 3.5/5

Final Verdict

We get watch how Tony Stark transforms into Ironman. And Marvel Cinematic Universe into a Cult.
