Introduction

When Sheldon Sampson ( Josh Duhamel ), his older brother Walter ( Ben Daniels ), Sheldon’s wife Grace ( Leslie Bibb ), and a few more acquired powerful special abilities in 1929, it was clear to them that they could only be used for purposes of good. It also meant never killing anyone and not getting involved in political affairs. While the group has always strictly adhered to these ideals, the following generation feels less committed to the code. While Chloe ( Elena Kampouris ), the rebellious daughter of Sheldon and Grace, leads a hedonistic lifestyle, son Brandon ( Andrew Horton) follows in the footsteps of his parents.

Plot Analysis

β€œJupiters Legacy,” tells of a dispute between old heroes and a new generation that is no longer committed to the code. Although it contains interesting topics, it gets lost between constant leaps in time and never really gets going. In addition, there is a no longer contemporary look, which also does not exactly make you want more.

The search for the super hit

For a while now, Netflix has been trying desperately to somehow get hold of the fat cake of superhero stories. But how? Now that working with Marvel is a thing of the past, another suitable material is needed. The streaming service is eagerly browsing the comics sector in particular, including The Umbrella Academy and The Old Guard. Every now and then he tries his hand at an in-house development like the film Project Power. So far, however, it has largely been a long time coming for success. Real hits, which are mentioned in the same breath as those of the competition from cinema and television, are in short supply.

It is Jupiter’s Legacy likely to remain so. The omens were not good anyway: If a series is subject to a review embargo that lasts until the day of publication, that is never a good sign. The response was actually modest: just 34 percent of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes were positive. This is really bad, especially for a series where the ratings tend to be higher. The adventure of doubting heroes and heroines is certainly not as catastrophic as feared. The reactions were a bit unnecessarily bad. But this is not really good either.

A look from yesterday

In addition, there is a look that does not necessarily fall under the category of high quality. The special effects are at the level of an average television series, so you are more used to this area. The costumes in their old-fashioned tights look are also not entirely up-to-date. In terms of content, this is quite appropriate when it comes to questioning old conventions. In connection with the old-fashioned ensemble of the original heroes, it looks involuntarily strange. Actual humor, on the other hand, is not sought, instead a lot of often unnecessary drama. That’s a shame because Jupiter’s Legacy has quite interesting elements, but they never really come into play.

Conclusion

In the end, the series is nothing more than just another title in a deluge of comic book adaptations that are barely remembered.
