Introduction

Today we’re discussing a movie that has a horrific yet beautiful atmosphere in it (Don’t get confused, you’ll know what I mean).

On this day β€˜The Other’ got released in the theatres of Hollywood for the first time. We’ll be looking at the special things and aspects this movie has to offer us.

Trivia

Iker Kidman initially tried to persuade the director and the Weinstein brothers to find another actress for the role. Step out of the bright and lush Moulin Rouge! (2001), the actress was initially unwilling to make a movie exploring such a dark place.

Iconic dialogues from this movie

Anne Stewart: I don’t believe that the Holy Spirit is a dove.

Nicholas Stewart: I don’t believe that either.

Anne Stewart: Doves are anything but holy.

Nicholas Stewart: They poo on the window.”

β€œThis story started many thousands of years ago, and it was all over in just 7 days. All that long long time ago, none of the things we can see now, the sun, the moon, the stars, the earth, the animals and plants, not a single one existed. Only God existed. And so only he could have created them. And he did.”

Plot Summary

Grace moved into a new house with her two children who are allergic to sunlight. But there are strange things happening in that house. After series of events that almost cost her the life of her children, she is convinced that there are some unholy spirits in the house. She decides to exorcise the house but it gets more and more challenging and life-threatening.

Story and perfect plot twist

The story is pretty simple, Grace lives in a villa with her two children who are both allergic to sunlight, that little twist in the story was great, it makes the film the complete opposite of other ghost stories, where Grace is not afraid of the dark and take care leave out the lights to save their children. This gives us a very creepy and dark atmosphere. Plus, the villa is a creepy place too. Not to mention that in the movie, anyone who enters the house has to close the previous door before opening the next.

People have always compared it to the “sixth sense”. Although the movie may have similarities, both are independent. There’s historical and religious content, purely in the context of twists, turns, and nuances that make this movie so complete in all aspects. all is well. This movie prides itself on every scene, and every scene is set up to allow you to get the most out of it. Everything is related to everything, and you will get clues from the whole movie, but its setting is so clever, the ending is the surprise you were waiting for.

To the director

Alejandro Anemabar directed “The Others” in this un-imaginable environment. The dark lighting is spooky and the cinematography is beautiful. The future of this guy is bright. With all the atmosphere we got a wonderful soundtrack from director Alejandro Amenabar. The music is chilling and really adds to the feel of the 1950s ghost stories. It also sets the tone for the movie and makes the horrible scene even scarier. The score is great. Alejandro Amenabal not only directed and scored the music but also wrote a great and mature script.

The acting of Cast

Nicole Kidman is the perfect actor in “The Others”. This may be one of her best performances (she also performed well at this year’s Moulin Rouge). She really believes in this role. The two children in this movie are also great. Alakina Mann as Anne is great. She played a big role in bullying her sister. She and James Bentley, who plays Nicholas, really do look like they’re related. They both did a great job. Mrs. Mills, who played by Fionnula Flanagan, was great too. She really scared me which is a very good thing about a horror movie.

Conclusion

The Others Review
The Others Review

If there is one word to summarize this movie, it is “chilling.” Others is a thriller with a pleasant atmosphere. It’s stressful, scary, and very unforgettable. I think I will never forget a picture of a frightened Nicole Kidman (Nicole Kidman) holding a rosary around her shotgun when she fell down in the corridor of her terrible Victorian mansion.
