This movie is based on real-life events of one of America’s first supermodel. She comes to New York City to become a fashion model where she meets a Big Agent, Wilhelmina Cooper. She began to rise in his career and fame. But her loneliness, especially after the death of Wilhelmina, drags her into the world of Drugs Where she gets HIV AIDS due to intravenous use of some Drugs and ends up living the rest of her life in a Hospital.
Angelina Jolie got two awards for her performance in this movie.
Girl, interrupted
Angelina Jolie plays a mentally disturbed girl (Lisa Rowe) who’s in a psychiatric hospital.
A Girl (Susan Kaysen) sent Claymore, psychiatric hospital, meets four equally mad girls. Where they sneak out at nights and have fun. But one day, Susana meets his Ex-BF, Tobias, who is ordered to serve in the Vietnam war. He asks her to run away with him, but she refuses because she was in deep bond with her friends and cannot leave them alone in the hospital.
After a series of events and things get worse there, Susan tries to escape from the hospital with his friend Lisa.
Goes in 60 seconds (2000)
You know what goes in 60 seconds. No, Not That. I’m talking about Exotic Cars. A legendary car thief (Memphis) retires from this business and starts to live his life peacefully. Until his younger brother screws up in a car thief deal with a giant lord and ends up having his life in utter danger. Memphis after hearing about his brother agrees to complete the car theft deal to save his brother’s life. He has to deliver the 50 exotic cars on the 5th day. For this Memphis reassembles his legendary team of thieves and experts again and goes to perform a thrilling and adventurous theft once again in his life.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
Angelina Jolie plays Jane Smith, an undercover secret agent in this movie. Mr. & Mrs. Smith, both secret agents working for different employers, meet each other in Columbia where they pretend to be a couple to escape from a heist. Both completely unaware of each other’s real profession.
They find each other attractive and marry. This turns out to be a disaster as their married life becomes boring and dull.
In all turns, when they got assigned in the assassination job of the same man. They face each other and end up in a gunfight, but somehow they manage to stop the fight.
But, then they find out that the man was used as bait because their employers were done with them.
Therefore, they both plan to take revenge from their employers.
Man, this the movie brings twist after twist making you stick to your couch.
Playing by the Heart (1998)
Ever loved watching your favorite actress acting in a comedy movie?
Well, as you’ve already guessed, ‘Playing by The Heart’ is a comedy movie. There’s a hell lot of things that go into the plot.
Two old couple decides to marry again and take their vows once more, where a gay man is living his last days due to AIDS with his mother who is not so much close with him.
On another side, a couple is having an affair, where her husband is desperately looking to spark up their married life. On a different side, a theatre director and an architect both are looking for a breakthrough in their life.
When they all get connected in each other’s lives, the audience burst into laughter.
Salt (2010)
After escaping from North Korea with the help of a coworker, a CIA agent marries her BF. But one day on work when she interrogates a Russian secret agent, she gets tricked into killing the Russian president in US Vice President’s Funeral. In some series of events, her husband gets murdered by the Russian Mafia in front of her. Later she finds that her co-worker who helped her escape North Korea is behind all this mess. She prepares an act of revenge on him.
Wanted (2008)
Angelina Jolie plays a cunning role in this movie. Ruthless. Merciless. Assassin.
A boring Desk job worker (Wesley) was told by a Woman Named Fox, that his father was an assassin and was killed by a guy named Cross, who, now, is after him.
Wesley, with Fox, joins Sloan (Leader) and His group called “The Fraternity,” and gets personally trained by Fox to kill his father’s killer.
But, when He gets face to face with Cross and kills him, he came to know that Cross was his real father and he was tricked into believing all this, to kill Cross.
Therefore, Wesley turns against Sloan to take revenge and face both Sloan and Fox.
A Mighty Heart (2007)
Oh Boy, there’re a lot of hearts in this list. Something is up with Angelina and Heart, I guess?
Well, this movie is based on the real story of Dan Futterman and his wife.
After spending their honeymoon in Mumbai (They Could have done better), Daniel (A wall Street journalist) and Mariane (News Reporter) plans on visiting Pakistan, in the middle of “war against terrorism”, for some official work.
One day Daniel goes to interview a Pakistani Extremist but never comes back. Mariane, who is visibly pregnant, start searching his husband with the help of Pakistan Govt., US embassy and The CIA.
This movie gets intense and Intense in end.
Foxfire (1996)
When a group of four girls goes against their creepy teacher cause’ of regular sexual
harassment, they get kicked out of the school. They form a close bond with each other as they live in an abandoned house as their headquarters for stealing Art school application of one of the group members.
Later, when they try to revenge schoolboys who tried to rape Madie (group member), Legs gets arrested and the group starts to fall apart.
After being released, Legs finds out that Goldie is taking drugs. So she, with the rest of her friend, goes to Goldie’s house to take her to rehab. It all ends up with a bullet on the shoulder of Goldie’s father when he refuses to send her.
When they bring him to the hospital and Goldie to rehab. They all decide to go to separate ways… leading an emotional ending.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)
No Jolie list is complete without mentioning Tomb Raider!
Angelina Jolie plays an adventurous woman (who’s a tomb raider), skilled in hand to hand combats and fluent in many languages.
She even puts her life in danger doing these adventurous things. One day she finds out that there’s a planetary alignment which occurs after 5000 years is going to happen in few days and there’s a secret society called The Illuminati which wants to gain access to special power to control time. For which they’ll need a Key and a special person to perform rituals. Lara finds a letter from his deceased father who hid the key in their house and finds the key. Illuminati’s people finds out and take away the key from her. Now, she plans to take back the key from them and destroy it so that no one can manipulate the natural laws.
Conclusion
Angelina Jolie worked in many genres and performed like a black-belt fighter. Though some of her films got no response in the box office, her performance in every movie is spot on.
