What’s it About?

Hi! If you’re reading me for a while you probably have got the sense by now that how much of a “Friends” fan I am. I love talking about it. I love watching it again and again. I’ve completed the whole 10 Seasons three times and I still never get bored of this show. But Today I’m not here to talking about the ‘Friends’ (Kind of statement I can’t believe I’m making) but a spin-off of it; Joey.

Joey is based on the character Joey Tribbiani after he moved out from New York to Los Angles, where his sister Dina lives with her son Michael. She is exactly the same Dina who got pregnant in the 8th season of ‘Friends’ when she was fooling around with her boyfriend Bobby. Surprisingly, Michael comes out quite an intelligent guy.

The Joey is better than ever. While still being the same old lad. He is still good with the girls, He still doesn’t want to be in a serious committed relationship, he still forgets things but he is going good with his career. The show is hilarious like its parent show.

Then why the critics hated it so much?

I read the reviews of the critics after watching the show and I felt really bad. Those reviews were bashing the show for nothing. The bad reviews really turned off the Friends fans from watching this show.

I’ve read a pile of reviews and out of them, I’ve come across some common arguments. The first being that there’s is no fun watching Joey without his friends. “There is no mention of Joey’s past life in this show”. Those who said this thing had never seen a single episode of the show, I can bet. Because in the pilot itself, Joey mentioned his friends at least 5 times out of which 2 times were of Chandler alone.

The second stuping thing I read was that the show is not funny. This was unarguably the stupidest argument out of all. The show actually is funny, there are times when this show is funnier than the parent show. Like the time when Joey gets stuck with a magazine journalist who turns out to be above 50 years old and thinks Joey wants to marry her.

The show was presented to David (Ross) but he refused. Then the producers went to Chandler and Monica to have their version of the After-life spin-off but they also refused. Then, Joey happened. Thank god, David didn’t agree to the spin-off, because I’m not interested in watching a paleontologist divorcing few bunches of women. Sadly the show stopped after 2 seasons because of those reviews, the audience didn’t care to watch it.

If you are a true Joey fan, then there should be nothing stopping you to find out about what happened to him after he moved on with his life. You might not find it interesting if you are more of a Ross or Chandler guy.
