Kajal Aggarwal who is basically a north Indian, debuted in Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai starring ‘Kyun! Ho gaya na…’ in 2004. She did a small role in the movie and had no idea of choosing cinema as her full-time profession.

Years later, the actress was offered the female lead role in ‘Lakshmi Kalyanam’ directed by Teja that was released in 2007. The cute and homely looking girl started to get attention from the audience. Even then, she never thought of continuing her career as an actress. But fate had other plans. Eventually, she started getting more offers from Tollywood and started to get recognized by people.


From an actress to a Celebrity

An offer to be the female lead in S. S. Rajamouli’s Magadheera became a turning point in Kajal’s life. Her performance as princess Mitravinda Devi in this historic action drama made her famous even in North India and she got many awards for her performance including the Filmfare for best actress. The dubbed version of Magadheera was watched by people from even abroad and her stardom reached sky-high.

From then on, the actress never had to look back. She started getting plenty of offers from both Telugu and Tamil movies. Movies like Arya 2, Businessman, Brindavanam, Temper, Tuppakki, etc became blockbusters not only because of the craze for the lead actors and the story but also because of the audience’s love towards her.

While 2020 basically gave only bad vibes to most of us, it was an unforgettable year for Kajal due to multiple reasons. In February, the famous ‘Madame Tussauds museum in Singapore unveiled her wax statue. She is the first and the only South Indian actress to have a wax statue in Madame Tussauds till-date.

When the world was hit by the pandemic, Kajal too had to stay back at her house in Mumbai pausing her ongoing shoots and the actress decided to get married to her best friend, a Mumbai-based businessman, Gautham Kitchlu. Kajal got married to Gautham on October 30, 2020, in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai.

Kajal fans started to celebrate December 20th as ‘World Kajalism Day’ as a way of showing their love and respect towards the actress.

Why December 20? Her birthday? No. Her fans had a unique and sweet reason for choosing this date for celebrating their favorite star. It was the birthday of Kajal’s Mother, Vinay Aggarwal. They decided to celebrate the birthday of her mother as Kajalism Day as she was the reason for their most favorite person’s birth!

Being different from other fan associations, Kajal fans celebrate this day by helping the needy and poor in all possible ways they can. They conduct Blood donation camps all over the country, distribute food and necessities to people who need them, and feed the inhabitants of old age homes, orphanages, etc on this day and as well as for her birthday and other occasions such as movie releases.

This isn’t surprising because they were merely following the footsteps of their favorite actress. Kajal too is very much keen on providing all possible help to people in need and the actress even owns a school for educating the underprivileged tribal kids of Araku Valley, Hyderabad.


Upcoming Projects and future endeavors of Kajal Aggarwal

The actress now, after her marriage, is back to acting with a handful of films in various languages. Kajal is debuting in the OTT platform, a web series directed by Venkat Prabhu in Tamil titled ‘Live Telecast’ is gearing up for release.

Her movie ‘Paris Paris’ which is a Tamil remake of the Bollywood movie ‘Queen’ is also awaiting release. A Bollywood gangster drama titled ‘Mumbai Saga’ directed by Sanjay Gupta and her Hollywood crossover movie ‘Mosagallu’ directed by Jeffrey Gee Chin is also awaiting release.

Apart from them, she’s a part of ‘Indian 2’, a big-budget prestigious project by Shankar in Tamil alongside Kamal Hassan, ‘Hey! Sinamika’ – a romantic drama directed by Brinda alongside Dulquer Salmaan and ‘Acharya’, a Telugu language action-drama film starring Chiranjeevi and directed by Koratala Shiva.
