One Line Review: Watch the struggle of Kazak journalist Borat who goes to America but knows nothing about American culture.
About “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”
Kazakhstan is a strange country with bizarre traditions and culture. According to the movie, they keep women in cages even after they get married. The man who marries a woman is not called the husband but the owner. The role of the Kazakh journalist is played by Sacha Boren Kohen.
My personal rating for this movie is 6 out of 10.
Due to the incidents of his previous trip to America Borat got imprisoned and was about to be executed when a message arrives and cancels his death sentence. It turns out that the higher authorities want Borat to go to America again and gift the Johnny Monkey (Who is, strangely, one of Kazakh’s leading pornstar) to the vice president of America.
Borat agrees to it and starts his journey to America again though he has little to no knowledge of American culture. He reaches there and waits for the delivery of Johnny Monkey.
Everything was going as planned until the shipment arrives and he finds his daughter who smuggled herself after breaking out from her cage alongside the dead body of Johnny Monkey. He reports this accident to his country to which he gets a threat of execution.
Borat, out of desperation and terror, decides to deliver his own daughter as a present instead of Johnny monkey. He pays heavy sums for a total makeover of his daughter (including plastic surgery) and sends her to a Native American so that she can learn about how to please a man.
But the lady to which she was sent tells her about human rights and her freedom which she was deprived of. It turns out as an eye-opener for her and she decides to run away from her father and live a new life working as a journalist.
Now, Borat goes out to find his daughter and to give her as a gift to a prominent leader.
What’s to Like/Dislike?
Social Message 👍👍
In the whole movie both the father and daughter follow a manual that tells how a girl should be kept. The whole manual is filled with bizarre things. This kinda resembles all the stereotypes we follow and believe. Along with comedy, this movie has a great social message weaved into it.
Father Daughter Relationship 👍
Though most of the movie it’s filled with the father oppressing the daughter from doing things she loves, you will see a great father and daughter bond which grows as they spend time with each other in a totally strange country. Borat loves his daughter but can not show it to her as it goes against the silly tradition of his country.
So here’s my personal view:
This is a comedy movie but there is a lot more to it which goes beneath the veil of comedy. The writers did a great job showing the bizarre sections and taboos of the world while keeping the theme of the plot funny and humorous.
Please go check out the movie it’s funny, it’s social, and there are definitely some things which you can learn from it.
As you have noticed that these reviews are not like typical journalist type of reviews, I’m not here to point out bad things and things which could have been better in the movie but I’m here to tell you what you are gonna get from the movie.
So, go check it out. It’s amazing, it’s new, and it’s Amazon Prime.
