Summary

Ibrahim is a man who lost his family in a landslide. Suma is in love with Ibrahim but Ibrahim is not ready to marry her due to their religious differences. Meanwhile, news spreads in the town regarding a Hindu man killing a Muslim shopkeeper due to communal indifferences. One night, S. I. Sathyan barges into Ibrahim’s house with the man who committed the murder. Sathyan and his team of cops were attacked by Muslims who were targeting Vishnu for revenge.

Within moments, two men knock on Ibrahim’s door. One of them being a criminal mastermind who wants to seek revenge by killing the murderer. Ibrahim decides to protect Vishnu, who is arrested as S. I. Sathyan is injured. The rest of the movie sheds light on the gruesome attempt from both sides to attain their wishes. It’s either Laiq’s (Criminal Mastermind) revenge or Ibrahim’s promise.

Review

Kuruthi is a brilliant movie in every way. Technically the movie starts high, let it be its making as a whole, cinematography or background score – everything peaks. But the major attraction of Kuruthi is its plot. A plot that is incredibly sensitive showcased in a way that no one had dared to in our country. It’s all about the communal dynamics that prevail in the country and it’s shown without compromising any points. The movie winds up in the best possible way by showing the harsh truth of society.

More than anyone, Mamukkoya shines high being Ibrahim’s dad, Moosa in the movie. The 75-year-old actor had done a fantastic job. Every other artist had done complete justification to their roles. Oddly, Prithviraj’s acting felt a bit dramatic.

Conclusion

Kuruthi is a movie that yells the reality of communal clashes in our society in a raw and bold manner. As a movie, technically too Kuruthi stands high which makes it a highly recommended watch.
