Summary

Krishna Pandit, grandson of Pushkar Pandit returns from Delhi for fulfilling the last wish of Pushkar, to take his ashes to his house in Kashmir along with his friends after his death. After the brutal exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valleys of Kashmir by Islamic terrorists, Pushkar was forced to live as a migrant just like other pandits.

Krishna who is unaware of the brutality that his family and kin went through, is ignorant and is also a part of a student movement led by Radhika Menon at the JNU who stands indirectly for supporting terrorist activities in Kashmir. Krishna learns about the gruesome and brutal events Kashmiri Pandits faced during the exodus from Pushkar’s friends and realizes how much he was brainwashed in the name of student movement.

Review

The Kashmir Files by Vivek Agnihotri is not a movie but an untouched depiction of real events. Only characters of Krishna and Pushkar’s friends are fictional about this movie and these characters are set as a kind of metaphors to indicate how various generations from different sectors of the society were affected by the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits.

What was impressive about The Kashmir Files was the characterization of Krishna who stood for all the youngsters of the current generation who gets easily affected by the influence of media and twisting facts and yeild themselves to the terror propaganda making themselves believe that they are rooting for the right thing.

The best part about the movie is its casting. Anupam Kher as Pushkar and Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt were extraordinary. The way both of them pulled off their characters will leave you teary eyed and makes you go through what each and every Kashmiri Pandit went through during the exodus.

No words are enough to praise Vivek’s courage to depict the facts as they are onscreen. An intense research of four years were done to collect facts with proofs to work on this project and everything shown on-screen are backed up by strong evidence. The Kashmiri Files is a mind-numbing, brutal depiction of the cold-blooded murders and exodus faced by the Kashmiri Pandits during the inhumane exodus of the 90’s by Islamic Terror groups.

Conclusion

A must watch masterpiece for every Indians and a spine-chilling depiction of what was hidden till date, the darkest chapter in the history of Kashmir.
