Introduction

Given the poor reviews and low ratings, I wasn’t expecting much from this movie. But this actually turned out to be a good story. Though the success of the character Tara comes like butter in the movies, this doesn’t make the film a bit less interesting. I found some odd things, keep reading to find out.

Plot Summary

Tara Roopram Khan is a girl who wants to come out of her oppressed and predefined life. She is facing problems due to being a lower caste girl. She decides to enter politics and fight for the chief minister seat of the biggest Rajya Sabha constituency of India; Uttar Pradesh. She faces gut-wrenching challenges and fights with them.

(This film shouts out loud in the disclaimer that this film is totally fictional and not related to any of the lady chief minister personality of any state. Though this film resembles very much the life of Mayawati if they say so. Also, this passed the bench of the sensor board, so it means it isn’t what it looks like.)

There is a problem though

I find the overuse of the Dalit/ Lower caste card irritating. I know there was a time in most of the Hindi-speaking states of India when lower caste people were appressed to the worst. But that’s just one factor, it may have a significant impact on Someone but it can not be solely responsible for his success or failure. It will be so much irresponsible of someone to put the blame for his misery over the lower caste trauma. In this film, the lower caste card is being played way too often, It kinda felt misused after a while.

Review

Richa Chadda- Only if she had a bit more time to get more deeply into her character this film would have turned awesome. She was good, I’m not saying that she performed badly. She was supposed to portray, again, a Dalit woman who is rising up the success ladder to become the first lady chief minister of the state but Richa’s manners and her body language didn’t quite express the sentiment. Plus, she was acting more like a Haryanvi married woman who is having her 3rd child in the 3rd year of her marriage rather than a tough UPian.

Verdict

A bit more attention to detail would’ve turned out to be amazing but still, this film is not what those poor reviews are saying it is.
