Summary

Jayakrishnan is a mechanic, a middle class family man who is trying to make some money to get his sister married. Jayakrishnan’s friend Varcky approaches him with a plan to buy a big chunk of land, pay an advance and sell the rest of the land before making their payment. The duo gets stuck in a huge complication and Jayakrishnan has to struggle alone to get out of the entangled situation.

Review

Meppadiyan is a movie everyone could relate to and that’s what made the movie a success. Unni’s Jayakrishnan could be anyone and the situation he gets stuck in is also something that could happen to anyone. Vishnu Mohan’s attempt to portray the struggles of a common man was very much effective. Throughout the movie, one could connect to whatever is happening to the protagonist.

Renji Panicker was convincing as Anthony and a helpless father. Evan Anil and Rachel did a very good job as Alex and Rachel. Ranjin Raj’s music was a very big factor to bring out the emotions as well as power packed sequences throughout the movie.

The struggles faced by Jayakrishnan during the second half of the movie started to look staged and less convincing unlike the first half of the movie and the climax especially felt a bit rushed.

Conclusion

Meppadiyan is a good attempt where you can relate to a lot of things happening on-screen and Unni literally takes the movie forward single handedly.
