Introduction

The Conjuring franchise has fans all across the globe for the movies for two reasons, as they’re adapted from real incidents and two, because of the fear factor. The latest installment from the franchise, The Devil Made Me Do It was a big let down as neither it scares and nor it is interesting.

“Another weak chapter for the scary series.”

Our review for The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is 05/10.

Summary

The movie starts with an exorcism scene where the demonologists Ed Warren and Loraine Warren helps a family to free their kid from a demon. Ed who suffers a heart attack in the middle of the exorcism, witnesses that the demon gets transferred to Arnie, boyfriend of the possessed kid’s sister. Ed, later when gains consciousness, warns that something unpleasant is going to happen related to Arnie and Lorraine reports the same to the cops. Arnie ends up murdering his landlord by stabbing him 22 times due to the influence of the demon.

This is reported as the very first case in the history of America where demonic possession was claimed as defense. The rest of the story is how the warrens tries to track and stop the demonic presence by getting to know its source.

Review

First time in the Conjuring Universe, the concept of black magic was explored. Even though the plot was good, the execution and flow of the movie was horrible. The very first exorcism scene was loud with bad VFX, I had to recheck whether I was actually watching a movie from the Conjuring universe.

The movie felt lagging at a lot of parts and the jump scares felt forced throughout. The movie lacked the very basic thing it had to offer – Fear.

Conclusion

You can give this movie from the conjuring universe a pass as it lacks what you might expect from a horror flick.
